Baggies' Gera groin worry

West Bromwich's Zoltan Gera is a major doubt for Albion's match with Arsenal.

West Bromwich midfielder Zoltan Gera is already a major doubt for Albion's meeting with Arsenal in two weeks.

Gera has been unable to shrug off a persistent groin problem which has precluded his involvement in Hungary's final two World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Croatia.

Baggies manager Bryan Robson confirmed to the club's official website that Gera has not travelled to Budapest and instead will remain in England for treatment.

"Zoltan has a long-standing groin problem which has been getting progressively worse," Robson lamented.

"He's seen a specialist, had a scan and he is going back to the specialist to have treatment.

"It is hard to see him being fit for the Arsenal game at this stage."

The 26-year-old was hampered by a hand injury earlier this season which may explain his inability to reproduce the impressive form he showcased during the last campaign.
