Ephraim the star as QPR hit double figures

Queens Park Rangers thrashed Tavistock, while Kilmarnock and Preston could not be separated. Winger Hogan Ephraim was the central figure as QPR began their Premier League preparations with a 13-0 demolition of Tavistock. Ephraim scored the opening goal, provided the pinpoint through-ball which created the second for Tommy Smith and then made it 3-0 after exchanging passes with Patrick Agyemang. The latter made it 4-0 just before the interval and a Tavistock own-goal followed before Ephraim completed his hat-trick.

Error

That sparked a similarly one-sided second half as the amateurs crumbled, defenders Danny Shittu and Matt Connolly joining Petter Vaagan Moen among a hail of goalscorers. Scottish Premier League side Kilmarnock drew 1-1 with Preston at Rugby Park. Winger James Dayton superbly gave Killie the lead in the first minute, surging past two defenders in a run from the halfway line before finishing emphatically. But Manuel Pascali's error allowed striker Neil Mellor to equalise for North End early in the second half. Pascali later had an effort cleared off the line by trialist Alex Cooper as the game finished all square.
