Super sub nets Preston points

Millwall's woe continues after they went down to a 2-1 defeat against Preston.

Millwall's miserable season continues after they went down to a 2-1 home defeat against Preston.

A bad tempered affair was settled when substitute Patrick Agyemang stepped from the bench to round Millwall goalkeeper Andy Marshall and net the game's decider on 78 minutes.

Preston took the lead against the run of play in the first period when David Jones, on loan from Manchester United, scored a fine free kick from 25 yards after David Nugent had been fouled.

Nugent should then have doubled Preston's advantage when he somehow contrived to squander a glorious opening just eight yards from goal.

Five minutes into the second period and Preston were left to rue such wastefulness when veteran Millwall midfielder Don Hutchison netted a free kick of his own.

Preston goalkeeper Carlo Nash will feel as if he may have done better as the former Scotland international registered from a full 30 yards.

Barry Hayles and Ben May both had opportunities for the home side but it was Agyemang who proved the game's most pivotal protagonist when he capitalised on Marvin Elliott's error to register a winner.
