PRESTON NORTH END have completed the signing of experienced striker Kevin Gallacher on a free transfer.
The Scottish international became a free agent after being released by Newcastle United in the summer and has put pen-to-paper on a one-month deal at Deepdale, with a view to a permanent contract.
The transfer had been in the pipeline for some weeks and the 34-year-old front-man was glad to finalise the switch.
"With having a slight injury I had to delay everything, but now I have proved my fitness, got everything sorted and maybe I'll be ready for the weekend.
Ç£I need to play football and keep my international career on the go and I had to find myself a club and the manager here has been kind enough to offer me a month and we'll see how it goes from there.
"I need a job and I want to play football and Preston can offer me that,Ç¥ Gallacher told his official website.
Preston manager David Moyes was happy that the Scot had finally joined the Lillywhites after the deal seemed set to peter out.
Ç£I think everybody knew our intention was to bring Kevin in for a month and have a look at him. He's a smashing professional and has been working with us know for a couple of weeks and he has shown a great attitude.
Ç¥He's a fit lad, with a lot to play for, so I feel that there is a player there who is hungry for more success and we've got him for a month to see if that's the case,Ç¥ the Preston coach told the club's official website.
The ex-Blackburn Rovers attacker will certainly add experience to the North End front-line but with Jonathan Macken, David Healy and Richard Cresswell already at Deepdale it is difficult to see where the Scot will fit in.
