Silkmen boss unsure if striker will leave club in the summer

Macclesfield Town manager Keith Alexander has tipped young striker John Rooney to play at a much higher level. The teenage striker, younger brother of Manchester United star Wayne, has joined Derby County on a week's trial after impressing for the Silkmen this season. Alexander concedes that the League Two club may struggle to keep hold of him during the summer if he impresses whilst with the Rams. "He is a player that deserves to play at a higher level, but whether he will move on in the summer is a different matter," Alexander told skysports.com. "Some stay and some go when there is interest in them. He is a very, very, very good footballer and if he does move elsewhere in the summer then we will just have to make do without him. "I've not heard anything from Derby about John, but I have been very busy so I can't say I've been waiting to hear news from them. "He has gone there so that they can take a look at him and he is a very good player. "We wish him all the best, but I am just concentrating on the players we have still got here."
