The Derby striker is in limbo at Pride Park as he awaits to discover whether or not he will be handed a new contract.
When questioned as to whether or not he would be interested in landing the 34-year-old, he told the Lancashire Evening Post: "That's a possibility."
It is also believed that Davies has refused to accept defeat in his bid to sign Celtic's Stephen Pearson.
The Preston boss recently saw a bid returned by Hoops boss Gordon Strachan, and he is now ready to table an improved offer.
