Owls seal moves

Sheffield Wednesday have signed Marcus Tudgay and Peter Gilbert this week.

Sheffield Wednesday have completed the permanent signings of striker Marcus Tudgay and defender Peter Gilbert.

Tudgay moves to Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee after initially joining The Owls on loan from Championship rivals Derby County.

The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract that keeps at his new club until the summer of 2010.

Gilbert also joins The Owls for an undisclosed fee from Leicester City after the former Birmingham City and Plymouth Argyle man had impressed Owls boss Paul Sturrock while on loan at Hillsborough.

The youngster has also signed a long-term deal with the South Yorkshire outfit, with his new contract taking him through to the summer of 2009.

Tudgay and Gilbert follow striker Deon Burton in making the mid-season switch to Wednesday, with Burton moving over from South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United.

Meanwhile, Owls midfielder Steve Adams has been sidelined for up to six weeks with tendonitis in his Achilles.
