Rams end interest in Grant

Derby County have ended their interest in Tony Grant.

Derby County have ended their interest in Tony Grant, but will hand Carl Valeri another week to impress.

Grant is on the lookout for a new club following his exit from Burnley and pitched up at Pride Park last week in the hope of winning a deal.

The midfielder did not disgrace himself in a friendly with Burton Albion, but Rams boss Phil Brown believes he would not add anything to his squad and has opted to look elsewhere for reinforcements.

Oldham had seemed favourites to land Grant prior to his trip to Derby and it could well be that Latics boss Ronnie Moore will resurrect his interest in the midfielder.

Australian midfielder Valeri could still win a deal at Pride Park after making a positive early impression on Brown.

"Carl Valeri will be staying with us for the foreseeable future and we'll take another look at him next week," commented Brown.
