Derby County have secured the future of talented young keeper Lee Camp.
Derby County have been handed a huge boost with the news that talented young keeper Lee Camp has signed a new three-year deal at the club.The 20-year-old has enjoyed a tremendous season in The Championship, as well as securing his first England Under-21 cap, and has attracted interest from Aston Villa.
The Premiership outfit were rumoured to be preparing a £3 million move for Camp in the summer, although he has now joined fellow Rams stars Grzegorz Rasiak and Inigo Idiakez in committing his future at Pride Park.
Derby are currently well-placed in the play-off positions, and Camp admitted that whilst he was happy to pledge his future to boss George Burley, he would not be content until Derby were back in the top flight.
"I won't be totally happy until Derby County are back in The Premiership," Camp fold the club's official website after signing the deal.
"This is the team I support, the club I always wanted to play for and it's been an incredible year for me.
"But I won't consider it a success until we are back where we belong.
"Whether it's this summer or at the end of next season, we deserve to be in The Premiership."
Derby director of football Murdo Mackay hailed the signing of Camp, and praised the youngster for the impact he has made over the current campaign.
"This move reflects our stated ambition of retaining quality players as well as developing the squad," said Mackay.
"Lee has proved his quality this season and the deal is extra special because he is a Derby lad and this is his club.
"He's recognised as one of the best young keepers in the country and, unsurprisingly, there has been a lot of interest in him.
"George Burley and Malcolm Webster deserve a lot of credit for his development this season but Lee also deserves praise for the way he has risen to the challenge."
