ERANIO SIGNS - MORE ITALIANS TO COME

JIM SMITH'S Latin revolution at Derby County is gathering pace as there could soon be as many as five Italians signed on at Pride Park.

Fabrizio Ravanelli led the influx when finally agreeing to a protracted move from Lazio, and it is now understood that two Milan youngsters are being lined up by 'The Bald Eagle'.

Planetfootball.com has broken the news that Daniele Daino, a promising midfielder, could be set to sign a year's loan deal with The Rams, but Nicola Corrent is also believed to be on Smith's hit-list.

The 22-year-old is still owned by Milan, but he has been away from the club since 1998 after enjoying spells with Monza, Salernitana and Siena.

Another midfielder with plenty of potential, he could be tempted be a possible switch to The Premiership.

Stefano Eranio has, as expected, completed his return to the club after signing a one-year contract.

The experienced midfielder tried to get fixed up with a club in his homeland after saying an emotional farewell to the East Midlanders, but Smith has welcomed him back with open arms.

"I have played at some of the world's biggest clubs but I never felt more at home than with Derby," Eranio told the official Derby website.

"I love the fans and I cannot think of anywhere better than returning to finish my career here."

Smith confirmed Eranio has also been acting as a guide to the Italian talent winging their way to Pride Park.

"Stef has been acting as a scout for me over in Italy," he stated. "Now it appears he has scouted himself!"

Parma's Matteo Boranga has also been tipped to move to the club, while Smith has been credited with an interest in Torino defender Mauro Bonomi, although Middlesbrough are thought to be favourites to sign the 28-year-old.
