Premier League: Wins for Arsenal, Everton, Norwich, Newcastle and West Ham

West Ham United and Norwich City both enjoyed important wins at the bottom of the Premier League as Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey returned to haunt his former club Cardiff City.

Newcastle climbed up to fifth in the table after Moussa Sissoko's stunning strike secured a 2-1 win over West Brom at St James' Park. Alan Pardew's side took the lead on 36 minutes when West Brom keeper Boaz Myhill's poor punch from Yohan Cabaye's corner flew into the air and Yoan Gouffran nodded into an unguarded net. West Brom rallied in the second half and equalised on 54 minutes when Chris Brunt rifled past Tim Krul at the far post after a cross from the right had been allowed to reach the Northern Ireland winger. But, just three minutes later, Newcastle scored the winner when Loic Remy headed the ball into Sissoko's path and the midfielder's swerving 25-yard shot flew into the top corner. Aston Villa and Sunderland failed to produce a royal performance in front of a watching Prince William after a 0-0 draw at Villa Park. Sunderland enjoyed the better first-half chances as Craig Gardner had a goal correctly ruled out for offside before Emanuele Giaccherini scooped the ball over the bar after being found unmarked just four yards out.
