Hibernian striker Derek Riordan claims he wants to remain at the club despite speculation that Celtic and Sunderland are keen to sign him.
The Scottish forward was put up for sale after failing to agree fresh terms with the Edinburgh outfit but there have been no suitable offers for the young prospect.
"Hopefully, aye, I want to stay at Hibs for another few years but it's not down to me so I've just got to get on with it," he stated to Sky Sports News.
"It's brilliant, we've got a good manager and a good set of boys in the team. I enjoy it at Hibs; obviously I've supported them since I was a wee laddie."
Hibs boss Tony Mowbray is hopeful he can persuade Riordan to commit his future to the club and will be pleased if he still can call upon the player come the start of the season.
"It came to a bit of a head really when we couldn't get an agreement with Derek's advisers over a contract," explained Mowbray.
"We were open to offers really but the offers didn't materialise so hopefully Derek will continue to score a lot of goals for us again this season.
"We're always hopeful Derek will come back to the table and want to sign his deal and get things sorted out."
