Sunderland have offered a deal to Arca, but he has not responded - leading to speculation that he could leave in January.
The Black Cats are refusing to put pressure on Arca and are willing to wait.
"No deadline has been given to Julio and we have no plans to issue one to him," said Mick McCarthy.
"Julio has had an offer and that's the way things stand at the moment.
"As far as I'm concerned, he is one of my best players and whatever the circumstances, he will continue to be picked for the side.
"I'm not getting worried about what might happen, as long as he keeps playing well for me and the club, that's fine by me."
