Midfielder to focus on battle for survival

Mehdi Nafti says he is happy to wait until the end of the season before discussing a new Birmingham City contract. The midfielder's current deal expires in the summer, but Birmingham boss Alex McLeish is keen to hang on to Nafti. McLeish admitted earlier this month that he expected talks to be held with the 29-year-old upon the Tunisian's return from the Africa Cup of Nations. But, with Birmingham battling to stay in the Premier League, Nafti is prepared to put negotiations on hold.

Concentrate

"I said a few weeks ago that I don't want to talk about my future until the end of the season and just concentrate on football and nothing has changed," said Nafti. "I don't think about my future at the moment. I think about football, enjoying every minute I am on the pitch, and trying to keep Birmingham in the Premier League. "My future we will see about at the end of the season. It is not in my mind now and I am happy at the moment." Nafti has spent more than three years at St Andrews after initially joining on loan from Racing Santander and has made over 60 appearances for the club.
