Sheridan retains hope

Oldham boss John Sheridan is hoping to resurrect a deal for Neil Kilkenny.

Oldham still keen on Kilkenny

Oldham boss John Sheridan is refusing to shelve his plans to seal a loan swoop for Neil Kilkenny. Earlier in the close-season, Sheridan thought he had secured a noticeable coup with the signing of the 21-year-old schemer, after both the player and Birmingham agreed to the switch. However, following the collapse of Hossam Ghaly's move to St Andrews from Tottenham, Blues boss Steve Bruce reneged on the deal. Sheridan, though, is loath to give up on a player who back in 2005 enjoyed a similar loan sojourn at Boundary Park. "I'd like Neil in as soon as possible," conceded Sheridan. "He's a Birmingham City player so I can't say too much. "But I want him here and the lad wants to be here, so hopefully we can get something sorted out."
