Nottingham Forest owner and chairman Fawaz Al-Hasawi has put his own future at the club in doubt.

Al-Hasawi was on Wednesday night answering question from supporters on Twitter and when asked whether he would consider standing down as chairman but remain as owner, he responded: "I will soon from everything".

The Kuwaiti businessman, who took control of Forest in the summer of 2012, later deleted the Tweet.

His post is the latest incident in what has been a turbulent few days at the Sky Bet Championship club, which began with the departure of manager Stuart Pearce on Sunday.

Chief executive Paul Faulkner tendered his resignation hours later. It is thought he walked out after he was not consulted over the appointment of Pearce's successor, Dougie Freedman.

Forest's finances then came under scrutiny after news emerged of the club being placed under a full transfer embargo over the non-payment of a fee to Peterborough for summer signing Britt Assombalonga.

The Reds were already under an embargo from the Football League because of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

On Wednesday, Al-Hasawi vowed that any outstanding money owed by the club will be paid "imminently".
