Lawyers representing Leeds president Massimo Cellino remain in talks with the Football League over its decision to ban him from owning the Sky Bet Championship club.

Cellino lost his appeal on Wednesday against the League's ruling that his conviction for tax evasion in Italy last year was in breach of its Owners and Directors' Test.

That saw him barred him from acting as a director, with Cellino now serving a suspension that is due to end on April 10 when his conviction expires under UK law.

The Italian was at Elland Road on Tuesday night to see Leeds defeat leaders Bournemouth 1-0 and it has been confirmed talks between the league and Cellino’s representatives continue.

“The Football League and Leeds United remain in ongoing dialogue about matters relating to the recent decision of the Professional Conduct Committee (PCC) regarding Massimo Cellino,” said a Football League spokesman.

Leeds, who sit just two places above the relegation zone, have yet to confirm who will run the club in Cellino's absence.

The 58-year-old is considering a further appeal after the League announced his disqualification had been upheld at the independent PCC's hearing.

Cellino's company, Eleonora Sport Limited, purchased 75 per cent of the club's shares from previous owner Gulf Finance House Capital in April 2014.
