Charlton have confirmed that new manager Guy Luzon will not be able to take charge of the team at Watford on Saturday because of issues with his UK work permit.

The Israeli was unveiled as the new boss on Tuesday, taking over from Bob Peeters, who was sacked after a poor run of results.

The Addicks had expected that the paperwork would be completed in time for him to take charge for the first time at Vicarage Road.

But his work permit will not now be processed until after Saturday’s match. Coach Damian Matthew and goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts will take charge of the team on Saturday.

Luzon’s first game in the dug-out should now been the match at Wolves on January 24.

Luzon, 39, was sacked by Standard Liege three months ago.
