Sheffield Wednesday boss Stuart Gray is 'fighting against other clubs' for new recruits, but is confident fresh faces are on their way.

Keiren Westwood and Sam Hutchinson have already been drafted into the Hillsborough ranks this summer, but further additions are expected.

Gray is working hard to get top targets on board, but faces stiff competition for signatures from managerial rivals.

He is aware of the need to get deals get over the line as quickly as possible as the countdown to the new season continues and hopes there will be movement during Wednesday’s pre-season training camp in Slovenia.

Gray told The Star: “We aren’t far away.

“The thing is we are fighting against other clubs who are in for these type of players. It’s down to the agents and clubs agreeing the deals.

“We need to do more business.

“We will get a lot of intensive work done in Slovenia. We will be doing two training sessions a day out there so the more players we can get through the door the better.

“We are still trying to strengthen the team. We need that little bit of quality. I want players to be pushed.”
