Brighton boss Gus Poyet is confident his team are heading in the right direction following a 0-0 draw with Derby at Pride Park.

Albion stretched their winless run to three games but Poyet reckons his side slightly shaded a match of few chances after they struck the woodwork twice in the second half.

"I'm not saying we totally deserved to beat Derby but I think we were slightly better," Poyet said.

"I think we had the best chances and the best approach play and most of the ball. Of course there was danger at the end with the fans and the atmosphere but I am going home relaxed today, I like what I see."

Poyet was left to reflect on a late missed opportunity that resulted in Dean Hammond heading wide of a gaping goal.

He added: "Three of our players were going for the same ball and pushing each other to try and score the winning goal but I call that football, we accept things because you can't control everything."
