Canaries boss insists teenager keeper will not let anyone down

Norwich City manager Paul Lambert is keen to send rookie goalkeeper Jed Steer out on loan in January. The 18-year-old was on the bench for Saturday's Championship defeat by Portsmouth and is highly rated at Carrow Road. Lambert accepts it may be difficult for another manager to gamble on such an inexperienced keeper, but he is adamant Steer would not let anybody down. He told the Pink'un: "Other teams are under pressure and if they take a chance on a young kid, even though I am sure he wouldn't let them down, your job is on the line at times. Do you throw somebody that age in? "It's hard for a manager of any club, especially in a first-team game where your job depends on other things. "He is getting bigger and filling up. He's only a kid in goalkeeper's terms but he is going to be a really good goalkeeper. "His hands are good and he kicks it really well, so I don't have one problem with Jed. He is going to be very, very good."
