Swansea winger Tom Butler is set to be sidelined until 2011 after undergoing a thigh operation.
The 29-year-old, who has been with the Swans since 2006, is yet to feature under new manager Brendan Rodgers.
He has now been forced to go under the knife to repair a torn muscle and will not return until the New Year.
Butler admits it is frustrating to miss such a large chunk of the season but he is focused on getting back as quickly as possible.
"It's disappointing. The operation was the only option for me because the muscle needed to be stitched back together," he told the club's official website.
"It's going to be a long road back but I am determined to get there and play a part in the second half of the campaign."
