Scunthorpe have signed defender Eddie Nolan on an initial six-month loan deal from Championship rivals Preston. The 21-year-old defender joined the Lilywhites in 2009 where h made 43 appearances for the Deepdale outfit before joining up with his ex-Preston boss Alan Irvine at Sheffield Wednesday on loan. The Republic of Ireland international made just 14 appearances for the Owls, scoring one goal at Hillsborough before retuning to Preston this summer. Now the youngster, who started his career at Premier League club Blackburn will move to Glanford Park with a view to a permanent deal when the loan ends on 3rd January next year. The versatile defender becomes the club's fourth new addition of the summer after falling out of favour with North End boss Darren Ferguson.
