Marcos Painter has revealed he turned down offers from other clubs in order to accept a pay cut to join Brighton & Hove Albion permanently.
The defender agreed to join Brighton from Swansea earlier this month following a successful loan spell at the Withdean Stadium and will complete the formalities of his move later this summer.
The 23-year-old, who will sign a two-year deal on 1st July when his contract with the Swans expires, rejected some lucrative offers in order to move to Brighton.
"If it was down to money I could have gone somewhere else," Painter told The Argus.
"I had other offers. The thing with Brighton is I've had half a season here, I enjoyed it and I feel part of the team.
"I felt settled at the club and I get on with the staff and players. I like the way the club is going. Deep down I didn't want to go to another club.
"A lot of people think footballers are a greedy lot, to be honest, but it's not always about money."
