Woods hoping to win chase for Plymouth full-back

Grimsby Town manager Neil Woods has confirmed the club are in talks with Plymouth Argyle to sign Damien McCrory on a permanent basis. McCrory has recently completed a two-month loan spell at Blundell Park, during which time he made 11 appearances for the Mariners. He is out of contract at Plymouth at the end of the season and reports suggest the Championship club will accept a nominal fee for the left-back. Woods is keen to capture McCrory permanently and hopes Grimsby can tie up a deal before other interested clubs make an offer. "We have a chance of getting Damien back and the two clubs are talking in an attempt to agree a valuation," Woods told the Grimsby Evening Telegraph. "If he was to return on loan, we would only get another month, so a permanent deal is the best option, if it's possible, and that's what we would like. "We are working on it and hope to have a decision inside 24 hours. "Plymouth have told us where they stand and indicated to us they will do business at the right amount. "But I think there are other clubs interested in Damien so, hopefully, we can agree something quickly."
