Full-back set to stay until the end of the season

Lincoln City are confident full-back Cian Hughton is close to signing a deal to stay at the club until the end of the season. Hughton has impressed since joining the Imps on a six-month contract in the summer and he has made 22 appearances for the League Two strugglers. The former Tottenham youngster recently admitted he would be happy to stay at Sincil Bank and talks are close to reaching an agreement. Imps vice-chairman Bob Dorrian confirmed Hughton is set to stay with the club, but is currently ruling out a more long-term arrangement. With Lincoln battling to preserve their Football League status, manager Chris Sutton is delaying any decisions on deals beyond this season. "With regards to Cian Hughton, we are fairly certain we are very close to doing a deal until the end of the season, but there were no thoughts of (for example) a two-year deal at this stage," Dorrian told the Lincolnshire Echo. "If, between now and the end of the season, Chris wants him for the foreseeable future - maybe a one or two-year contract - that (deal) will be done sooner rather than later."
