Rovers defender plays 30 minutes in comeback

Doncaster Rovers defender Sean McDaid has played his first competitive game since a serious knee injury 18 months ago. The 23-year-old completed 30 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Sheffield United and came through the match without any problems. McDaid dislocated his knee in a practice game in April last year and broke down again on his return last season, requiring surgery after a further complication. But the former Leeds trainee has now taken a huge stride towards a first-team return, and will be hoping he does not suffer another setback. A club spokesman said: "Sean did really well. He played a full 30 minutes and suffered no reaction whatsoever. "He was understandably buzzing after taking part in his first match for more than 18 months and everyone at the club is delighted for him." Donny's next game in the Championship is a trip to relegation rivals Plymouth Argyle on Saturday as they look to move away from the drop zone.
