Ipswich manager could target familiar faces

Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane will look for familiar faces this summer as he rebuilds his squad at Portman Road. Keane signed a raft of former club and country team-mates during his tenure at Sunderland and looks set to again seek players he has worked with before. The ex-Manchester United captain took over at Ipswich from Jim Magilton in April and, after winning his first two matches in charge, is eager to construct a side capable of achieving promotion from the Championship next season. He said: "It might be players I have managed before, players that have been in the opposition when I've been a manager or maybe players I have played with. "Hopefully, it will be an interesting summer for the club. It will be big one and, if we can do a deal with the players I want, then great. If not, then we will back away and be patient. "But it's important to get the right characters in. That's the main thing. There are some talented players here already and I've been pleasantly surprised but we need a bit more to have a chance of getting out of this league." Meanwhile, goalkeeper Shane Supple has revealed that he is close to agreeing a new contract with Ipswich.
