Blackpool's search for new boss puts deal on hold

Derby County will wait until Blackpool appoint a new manager before deciding whether to increase their bid for Shaun Barker. Blackpool rejected an offer in the region of £400,000 from the Rams last week for Barker, who has a year left on his contract. The defender remains a leading transfer target for Derby boss Nigel Clough and he has been tipped to improve his offer. However, Rams chairman Adam Pearson has no plans to progress the matter until Blackpool name their new boss. "They (Blackpool) have got their manager position to sort out," Pearson told the Derby Evening Telegraph. "Only when that happens is the Barker matter likely to move on." Tony Parkes has turned down the chance to stay on at Bloomfield Road, with the likes of Alan Knill and Gary Brabin leading candidates to take over.
