Parkinson impressed by Cameroon attacker

Charlton Athletic are considering offering a contract to Cameroon international Roudolph Douala. The 30-year-old has been training with the Championship strugglers and featured for the reserves earlier in the week. The versatile attacker is currently a free agent and Addicks boss Phil Parkinson is planning to discuss a deal for Douala. "He played for the reserves and did well," Parkinson told the club's official website.

Intelligent

"He's used to playing in a 4-3-3 system, but he can also play down the middle in a 4-4-2. He's not big, but he's quick and he's an intelligent footballer. "He played for Cameroon in a full international four weeks ago, so he's a little bit low in terms of match practice, but we like what we've seen so far. "He's trained with us for a week and so far I like the look of him. "We've been trying to keep it quiet so no one else can jump in and nick him off us! But he likes it here and I'll be speaking to him and his agent over the next couple of days. We're light in terms of strikers, and we're going to be looking at him closely." Douala has previous experience of English football after spending the 2006/07 season on loan at Portsmouth, making 10 appearances for the club.
