Midfielder's contract terminated

Damiano Tommasi has left Queens Park Rangers after having his contract terminated by mutual consent. The veteran midfielder moved to Loftus Road on a free transfer in September and made seven appearances for the club. He has fallen down the pecking order under new manager Paulo Sousa and the decision has now been taken for him to exit with immediate effect. Tommasi, 34, accepts that it is time for him to move on and he hopes to find a new club in the near future. He will continue to support QPR and feels Sousa's men can win promotion to the Premier League. "I have enjoyed my time here very much but I understand football and things change. This is normal," Tommasi told QPR's official website. "Now I have the opportunity to look for another team. I want to carry on playing - I'm not sure for how long - but I feel there is more in me to give. "I now consider myself to be a QPR fan and I believe the club is capable of winning promotion. "They have a strong squad, and I don't think we will have to wait too long before we see them playing in the Premier League."
