Blues boss keen to sign a centre-half in January

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is not ruling out a renewed bid to sign Bobo Balde in January. Celtic defender Balde was chased throughout the summer transfer window by McLeish, only to stay at Parkhead. He has not featured for the SPL champions this season and is reported to be available on a free transfer in the New Year. McLeish is keen to bring in a new centre-half when the transfer window opens and could make another attempt to sign Balde.

Saga

"I have wanted to strengthen at centre-half since I came into the club and I have not been able to do it yet," said McLeish in the Birmingham Mail. "We tried to get Balde in the summer and I wouldn't rule anything out. "I don't want to start talking about it again in case there's nothing in it because I know that the Birmingham fans had to put up with that saga for a few weeks before. "I will keep things quiet just now and if I hear anything, then we will wait until something is going to happen 100 per cent, whether it's Balde or someone else."
