Shane Higgs is hoping to use his loan spell at Championship leaders Wolves as an opportunity to put himself in the shop window.
The 31-year-old shot-stopper, on loan from League One strugglers Cheltenham, was signed by the Molineux outfit as back up for Wayne Hennessey and Carl Ikeme.
However, having been told he can leave the Robins, Higgs is hoping to impress any potential suitors.
"I'd just found out from Cheltenham that I could go out on loan and go on a free in January," Higgs told
skysports.com.
"Having the chance to go somewhere else on a free opens up a lot of doors and within a couple of days I found out about the interest from Wolves. It was a little bit of a surprise, but pleasing as well.

"The loan deal here could potentially open up a lot of windows for me and there is a chance I could get a permanent deal at Wolves until the end of the season, but we'll just have to see how it goes first.
"I spoke to a couple of clubs before Wolves came in for me, but it was mainly for at the end of the season, nothing was definite, so I had almost given up on getting a move away from Cheltenham until Wolves came in for me on the loan deadline day.
"They needed a keeper for cover and it was an opportunity I couldn't refuse really."
The experienced keeper has been part of the furniture at Whaddon Road for nearly a decade, having signed for the club from Worcester City in June 1999, but Higgs realises there is no room for sentiment in football.
"The club means a lot to me because I've spent the majority of my career there, but the club has changed considerably in the last six to eight weeks and although it's sad to go when a new manager (Martin Allen) comes in you expect changes to be made," he added.
