Midfielder to miss the rest of the season with knee injury

Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde will miss the rest of the season after rupturing knee ligaments. Bodde suffered the injury in Friday's 3-2 home defeat by Birmingham City and he was forced off in the first half. Roberto Martinez hoped the Dutchman would only be out for several weeks, but Bodde now faces months on the sidelines. "Ferrie has ruptured his cruciate ligament and torn his cartilage in his left knee,'' Swans physio Richie Evans told the club's official website.

Devastated

"The MRI scan confirmed our fears and although he will see another consultant next week, Ferrie will be out for around six months. "It will rule him out for the rest of the season and everyone, including Ferrie, is devastated.'' Leon Britton picked up a back injury against Birmingham, but Evans confirmed the midfielder should not expect a lengthy spell out of action. Evans added: "Nothing significant showed up on the MRI scan so we could have Leon back sooner than we expected."
