Hungarian set to replace Loovens

Cardiff have captured Northampton defender Gabor Gyepes for an undisclosed fee. Bluebirds boss Dave Jones has moved for Gyepes as he looks to fill the void left by Glenn Loovens's departure to Celtic. Gyepes signed for the Cobblers in January after nearly two years out with a serious knee injury and penned a one-year deal in the summer to stay at Sixfields. However, after returning to full fitness Jones has moved to bring the Hungarian international to Ninian Park. Northampton chairman David Cardoza revealed the club had no choice but to sell Gyepes after Cardiff triggered a release clause in his contract. "We knew when he joined us that we were signing a quality player who, if he regained his fitness, had the ability to play at a higher level," said Cardoza. "Once Cardiff offered us a figure which triggered a release clause in his contract we were duty bound to let them talk to him."
