Defender joins Seasiders on a free transfer

Blackpool have completed their first signing of the summer with the capture of defender Marlon Broomes. The centre-half moves to Bloomfield Road on a free transfer having being released by Stoke at the end of the 2007/08 season. The 30-year-old, who has also enjoyed spells at Blackburn, Sheffield United and Preston, has agreed a one-year deal with the Seasiders with the option for a further year should he impress Simon Grayson.

Flynn future

Meanwhile, former Blackpool midfielder Michael Flynn has played down reports linking him with a move to Huddersfield. The Welshman was released by Grayson at the start of May and has attracted interest from a host of clubs. Huddersfield were believed to be among the favourites to secure Flynn's signature, but the player is remaining tight-lipped as what his future may hold. "I don't want to say at this stage which the clubs are," he told the Blackpool Gazette. "The sooner it is sorted out the better, but at the same time I don't want to rush into things."
