Ipswich have offered young starlet Owen Garvan a new deal at Portman Road.

Two-year extension on table for starlet

Ipswich have offered young starlet Owen Garvan a new deal at Portman Road. The 20-year-old is regarded as one of the leading talents outside the top flight after a series of impressive showings. A number of clubs are thought to be monitoring Garvan, who won his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad earlier this week. Garvan, who has one year to run on his current contract, has been offered a two-year extension to keep him at the Suffolk club until 2011 Town boss Jim Magilton is keen to keep Garvan at the club as he believes the midfielder is key to their progress.

Progressed

"Owen has a bright future and we want that to be at Ipswich Town," Magilton told the club's official website. "He has progressed at the club and we want him to continue to move forward here. "I've sat down with him and had a chat and the two-year contract extension is on the table for him. "He knows we want him to stay here and become part of what we are trying to build at this club and he can have an important part to play in that."
