Barnsley have re-signed Luke Steele from West Bromwich Albion on a deal which will become a permanent arrangement in the summer.
Steele's month-long loan at Oakwell had expired and the Championship clubs had been struggling to broker a deal for the keeper to return to Barnsley.
West Brom were reluctant to sanction another loan move which would have seen the former Manchester United youngster return to The Hawthorns at the end of the season.
But a compromise has now been reached, with Steele heading back to Barnsley on loan for the remaining weeks of the campaign before the move becomes permanent in the summer.
No fee will be paid by Barnsley, but West Brom will receive 50 per cent of any future transfer.
It means Steele will now be able to figure in the Tykes' FA Cup semi-final against Cardiff City and he is delighted to have the chance to play at Wembley.
Frustrating
"To be honest, it was nothing to do with me for a while," Steele told
Sky Sports News. "The people who wear the suits had a few queries and numbers to talk about.
"It was resolved after training today and I've signed and everything is sorted out. I'm going up there tonight, I'm training tomorrow and looking forward to the game on Saturday against Sheffield United.
"Everybody knows I've not had the best time at West Brom, it has been frustrating for me. Barnsley have given me a chance and I hope I've done well enough to keep my place.
"All I want to do is make sure I play in the semi-final and also the league games until the end of the season."
