Oldham boss swoops for North End midfielder

Oldham boss John Sheridan has made his first signing of the January transfer window by securing the services of Preston's Jason Jarrett on a month's loan. The 28-year-old, who has had notable spells with Wigan and Bury, has been signed on emergency loan and is eligible to feature against Carlisle on Tuesday evening. The midfielder has struggled to make an impression at Deepdale, and Sheridan has deemed his services worthwhile for an initial month spell.

Departure?

As well as a player arriving at Boundary Park, there may well be another departing at the same time. Young defender Neal Trotman is believed to be a transfer target for Plymouth Argyle, with the Championship club reported to have made a bid which could rise to £500,000. The 20-year-old has only started 20 first-team games for the Latics, however Plymouth are among several clubs who have been monitoring Trotman's progress during the January window.
