Czech keeper set to train next week

Dutch forward Sherjill MacDonald has finalised a permanent move to Championship leaders West Bromwich Albion. MacDonald originally joined the Baggies on loan from AGOVV Apeldoorn 12 months ago, but has yet to start a game for the club. However, that has not stopped Tony Mowbray splashing out £200,000 to secure the attacker on a two-and-a-half year contract. The West Brom boss feels that MacDonald, who has made 21 substitute appearances, has the potential to be an important player at the Hawthorns. "Talent is hard to come by and when you have got someone with the ability Sherjill has to beat an individual in a one-on-one situation, we shouldn't be discarding him," Mowbray told the club's official website.

Big asset

"Sherjill has got talent and potential. We need to work with that, develop it and hopefully make him a big asset for our football club." Meanwhile, Mowbray also confirmed that Czech Republic goalkeeper Michal Danek will train with the club next week. He added: "Michal will maybe come over next week to train for a few days so I can have a look at him. "I've spoken to him and he seems a nice guy. "Now I'd like to see his work ethic on the training ground and his general mentality around the place."
