Portuguese star earns praise from team-mate

West Brom midfielder Chris Brunt has praised team-mate Filipe Teixeira after another eye-catching performance from the Portuguese player in the victory over Scunthorpe. Teixeira scored an excellent goal to help Albion to a 3-2 win at Glanford Park and Brunt admits he was the outstanding player on show. Brunt has also tipped Teixeira, a summer recruit from Academica da Coimbra, to get even better as the season progresses. "He's fantastic," Brunt told the Birmingham Mail. "Technically he's top drawer and you can see why he's been at a club like Paris Saint Germain. "The first half on Saturday would have been a culture shock to him but in the second half he was head and shoulders above everyone else. "If we can keep giving the ball to him in dangerous situations then he's capable of doing anything and he showed that again at Scunthorpe. "He proved a good partner for Ishmael (Miller), who himself showed that his pace and power is going to cause problems for anybody in the League."

Brunt hope

Brunt also arrived at The Hawthorns over the summer and he admits it has not been easy to settle due to his commitments with Northern Ireland. "I've been here for a week, away on international duty for 10 days and then back again but we now have a couple of weeks before the next international break so hopefully I can get some more games under my belt and get 100 per cent match fit," he explained. "I'm starting to get towards the sharpness I had last season and hopefully I can kick on from Saturday's game."
