Kallon linked with Birmingham move

Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is hoping to sign one more striker and a midfielder before the close of the transfer window. Bruce has been busy bringing in new players this summer but is still eager to strengthen his attacking options before Friday's deadline. Monaco forward Mohamed Kallon is understood to be Bruce's top target and is reportedly available for an initial loan move with a view to a permanent transfer. The Sierra Leone international has spent time at Internazionale and most recently had a loan spell with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad. Bruce said: "If we could find a striker, we are always looking for a striker. Let's wait and see what develops."

Bruce spies midfielder

Bruce has failed to secure the services of a number of his top midfield targets this summer, including Tottenham's Hossam Ghaly. Peter Luccin of Atletico Madrid and Marseille playmaker Modeste M'Bami have both been linked with moves to St Andrews. "Everyone knows the kind of midfield player we are looking for and we will keep trying to bring someone in by Friday," Bruce explained.
