Andrews is in the Goals on Sunday studio to discuss his current situation on loan at Watford.

Watford midfielder Keith Andrews says that he wants to bring an end to his loan spell at Vicarage Road, now that the January transfer window has reopened again for business.

Andrews joined the Championship side from Bolton Wanderers last summer on a season-long loan deal.

However, there are now big doubts about the Republic of Ireland international’s future at the Hornets after Andrews revealed that he had been placed on gardening leave by the club.

“I have not been playing or been in for the last few weeks,” Andrews told Goals on Sunday.

“It is a little bit of an odd situation really. I suppose that I am on gardening leave to a degree over something that happened at the club that I cannot really speak about.

“But now that the window is open again that loan situation can get changed so hopefully another club can take that loan on for the rest of the season. Hopefully another club will come to the rescue.

“I just want to play football and I am not just going to sit around somewhere for the sake of it. I have never made it difficult for any club I have been at. If they do not want me, or vice-versa, it is just one of those things. You only get one career, and I want to enjoy it and achieve as much as I can in it.”

And Andrews, 34, went on to claim that Watford manager Slavisa Jokanovic has the players at his disposal to achieve promotion back to the Premier League this season, with the former Chelsea midfielder having guided them to fifth place in the table at present.

“The squad is fantastic and the level of ability in that squad is the reason why they are where they are in the league. And if they are not in the top six come the end of the season, then something has gone drastically wrong,” he added.

“It has not been easy, there has been a lot of change. Oscar Garcia, you could not foresee what happened with his health problems for instance. Billy McKinlay came in for a  short stay and then obviously this manager is in place now and results of late have been good, but who knows how long that will last for?

“Without a shadow of a doubt, they are good enough to go up. You only have to look at their strikeforce with their four strikers they have got - there are goals in that team. All it needs is a little bit of organisation and discipline and they have to be there or thereabouts.”
