Hornets launch challenge against injury time sending off

Watford have launched an appeal against the red card shown to Lloyd Doyley during their Championship win over with Leicester. The Hornets left-back was dismissed during injury-time by referee David Webb, who awarded a penalty after Jermaine Beckford was brought down. However, it was not Doyley who committed the foul as centre-back Adrian Mariappa was the offender. Watford also believe the red card, which Webb brandished in the second minute of added time, was given for denying a goalscoring opportunity despite there being three defenders surrounding the Leicester frontman. Doyley has been a regular feature in the Hornets' back four this campaign making 20 appearances for the Vicarage Road side. The Hornets will learn the fate of their appeal within the next day with a decision being reached before their trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Championship on Saturday.
