The 21-year-old was brought on at the break by manager Graham Taylor and he now hopes his impressive performance will convince the boss to make his stay permanent.
"I`m happy to get in, get 45 minutes under my belt and put it about a bit," said the player who had earlier spent a successful loan spell at QPR.
"It wasn`t a problem getting back into the swing of the Premiership. There are better players and you just have to concentrate more."
Ward also spoke of his tussle with one of the games hard-men, Mark Hughes. "Mark Hughes is a strong player and the kind of forward I like playing against," Ward said.
"I hope this is my big opportunity. I`ve been out a long time and hopefully I`ll be involved next week."
Ward`s return to the first team is a blow to QPR boss Gerry Francis, who was keen to bring the stopper to Loftus Road on a permanent basis in the close season.
