Grand National tips: Who to back, according to which Premier League team you follow

Grand National tips for football fans

There is no right or wrong way to pick a horse to back in the Grand National, but boy it can be confusing. Not anymore! Lewis Jones has simplified the process to tell you who to back, based on which football team you support...

CHELSEA fans get on BALTAZHAR KING (Sky Bet odds: 9/1): A born winner, getting his head in front in six of his last eight races.

MAN CITY: PINEAU DE RE (Sky Bet odds: 22/1): Last year’s champion but advancing in years.

ARSENAL: SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR (Sky Bet odds: 7/1): You've got to back one of your own. Hardcore Arsenal fan AP McCoy will fly the flag for the Gunners in his last National.

MAN UTDCAUSE OF CAUSES (Sky Bet odds: 16/1): Coming with a late run, having hit form in the spring.

LIVERPOOL: WYCK HILL (Sky Bet odds: 66/1): When everything clicks, he’s a danger to anyone but always capable of slipping up at his fences.

TOTTENHAMMON PARRAIN (Sky Bet odds: 50/1): Like Spurs, has got an in-form wonderkid on his back – Sean Bowen could carry this horse over the line.

SOUTHAMPTON: COURT BY SURPRISE (Sky Bet odds: 50/1): It’s all in the name. Taken everyone back with their overachievement this season.

EVERTON: ROCKY CREEK (Sky Bet odds: 9/1): In a false position within the handicap. Much better than his mark suggests.

STOKE: MONBEG DUDE (Sky Bet odds: 33/1): A bit of a bruiser, sporting red and white stripes.

WEST HAM: FIRST LIEUTENANT (Sky Bet odds: 33/1): Landing a blow for all the ladies. Like Karren Brady, jockey Nina Carberry is not a woman to mess with.

CRYSTAL PALACE: UNIONISTE (Sky Bet odds: 25/1): The youngest in the field but achieves results that belie his years.

SWANSEA: RUBI LIGHT (Sky Bet odds: 66/1): A model of consistency and a flashy jumper that has never fallen but struggles to stay the distance.

NEWCASTLE: BALLYCASEY (Sky Bet odds: 50/1): Has a huge following but is woefully out of form.

ASTON VILLA: MANY CLOUDS (Sky Bet odds: 33/1): Trained by a man named Sherwood, this lad will attack his fences.

WEST BROM: ALVARADO (Sky Bet odds: 16/1): No nonsense approach. Not an eyecatcher but will get the job done.

QPR: SOLL (Sky Bet odds: 25/1): Refreshed by a change of stables. Seems to be over a period of injuries – did a knee operation do the trick?

BURNLEY:THE RAINBOW HUNTER (Sky Bet odds: 40/1): The housewives' choice. Like a small puppy, you just can’t say a bad word about him.

LEICESTER: LORD WINDERMERE (Sky Bet odds: 40/1): Wins have been hard to come by this season. You have trained the same amount of winners as the trainer.
