Reo-Coker makes Taylor plea

Nigel Reo-Coker has urged The FA not to dump England Under-21 coach Peter Taylor.

Nigel Reo-Coker has urged The Football Association not to dump Peter Taylor, if the England Under-21s reach the finals of the European Championship.

The youngsters edged a step closer towards the finals after a 1-0 victory at home to Germany in the first leg of their play-off on Friday.

But, should the team qualify for the Under-21 tournament, then Taylor may no longer be coach as The FA are keen to make a full-time appointment.

Taylor currently combines his international commitments with managing Championship club Crystal Palace.

West Ham midfielder Reo-Coker, though, feels The FA would be making a mistake in bringing in someone to replace Taylor.

"You just have to look at Peter Taylor's record after he has taken over this time," said the Under-21 skipper.

"It would be a little strange if we got to the finals and Peter wasn't our manager.

"He has established something great here. The players are 110 percent behind Peter.

"The FA have to keep him on for the finals, there's no two ways about it.

"I think his record speaks for itself at this level. He is the man for the job."
