Reo-Coker delight at call

Nigel Reo-Coker is delighted to have been placed on stand-by for England.

Nigel Reo-Coker is delighted to have been placed on stand-by for England's World Cup squad.

The 21-year-old was hopeful of being involved and Sven Goran Eriksson did indeed name him as one of five players who will provide back-up to the main 23-man party.

"It is fantastic and I couldn't have thought of a better way to end my season [with the FA Cup final next week] and this has added to it, as I said I was ready to go on holiday and to get the phone call from Sven himself is great," he told Sky Sports News.

"He rang me and I thought someone was playing a prank on me and threw in a few f's and that, but when I realised I talked with him and when we finished somebody else rang me form the FA.

"I think the whole inclusion is magnificent, to think I am in the 27 - it is a tremendous honour, terrific."

Reo-Coker insists he is not hoping for one of the other midfielders to get injured.

"I think what will be, will be," he said. "I am not that type of player and I am just happy to be involved."
