LOAN STARS TO LEAVE UPTON PARK

WEST HAM'S managing director Paul Aldridge has said that the loan players currently at Upton Park will not be staying at the club.

Harry Redknapp currently has three French players, Sebastien Schemmel, Christian Bassila and Kaba Diawara, on loan at the East End club, but Aldridge confirmed none of these will be joining the club permanently.

"We won't be keeping the loan players, with Sebastien Schemmel not seen by Harry as someone who could improve the squad for next season," Aldridge said.

"Christian Bassila and Kaba Diawara will also be leaving."

The 1998 World Cup's leading scorer, Davor Suker, is also set to leave the club just a year after joining from Arsenal.

Redknapp had an option to extend the Croatian striker's contract for a year, but has decided not to take this up.

"Davor himself has said this has been his worse season because of injuries," Aldridge said.

"He was certainly excited to come to West Ham and wanted to show us he could still do it in the Premiership and in the pre-season looked a very good acquisition.

"He has scored a few important goals for us but it has not worked out how any of us would have hoped."
