Sky Sports understands QPR striker Rob Hulse is set to join Championship side Charlton on loan.
Hulse, 32, will be aiming for regular first-team action at the Valley after finding opportunities scarce at Loftus Road.
The ex-Derby and Leeds United player has only started one match in the past 18 months and a temporary exit always looked likely after he was left out of Mark Hughes' 25-man Premier League squad.
Addicks boss Chris Powell has moved for Hulse to bolster his attack ahead of Tuesday's home clash against fellow bottom-six side Watford.
Fifth-bottom Charlton are the third lowest scorers in the Championship after netting nine goals in their opening eight league matches.
Powell's striking options have also been hit by Ricardo Fuller picking up a virus ahead of Saturday's draw against Blackburn.
